The Herding Association of Central New York is an all-breed AKC affiliate herding club founded in 2020 to further advance all herding breeds and to promote the appropriate management of livestock by conducting herding tests and trials. In addition, HACNY aims to do all in its power to promote the sport of herding by protecting and advancing interest in herding tests and trials and the dog breeds which are eligible to participate in such tests and trials, to encourage sportsmanlike conduct at herding tests and trials, to disseminate knowledge, conduct classes in and promote the training of purebred dogs and the management of herding livestock and to encourage the training of judges for herding tests and trials. There are a variety of herding breeds represented in the club including, but not limited to, the Australian Cattle Dog, Australian Kelpie, Australian Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Belgian Tervuren, Border Collie, Canaan Dog, Collie, German Shepherd Dog, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Rottweiler and Standard Schnauzer.
